I recently was given a vanity from a friend who said it had belonged to his grandmother. On the inside of one of the drawers is " American of Martinsville, appears to have been burned into the wood, also there was a tag from Mahogany association inc. Chicago, Ill , 1938, with the number GE546866, does this mean it was made in 1938? I would like to refinish it , but am not sure how to go about it. Thank You

post a picture of you next to the vanity...
For sure then we can tell you the age and best way to refinish...I think one of "The housewives of O.C." has this same piece?
