Hi everyone. Hoping you can assist with a wood type ID. Thanks!

@jdip2. Rosewood.

Out of interest,based on the photos you posted , is your cabinet a folding "office in a box" also known as a " magic box" folding desk?

Looks to be the Norwegian version.

@mark737.I am inclined to agree based on the use of rosewood. Maybe we can persuade @jdip2 to show us the internals to confirm our suspicions? 😉

There might even be a label... 🤔

Yes, it should have the swing-out metal lamp and  a "Made in Norway" stamp on back.

Hi everyone.  Thanks for your feedback. Has been quite a while since frequenting the forum. I’m “Jdip” from back f in the day. I fell off from collecting for a while and then the hunting/collecting itch came back strong😬....you know that feeling!

Thanks for the rosewood confirmation. Was pretty certain of it but don’t want to look foolish by posting  incorrect info. You are correct, it’s the “majic box” and does have the blue enameled box head swing arm lamp. Didn’t see a stamp on this one.  I had two in teak many years back. The grain on this one is killer.

I’ll post some pics of it opened up a bit later.

with the revamp of the site a while back I had to edit my screen name from the original “jdip”. I don’t see many of the regulars screen names from 7+ years back when surfing the forum.

thanks again!

Welcome back, jdip. I just started visiting again after a year or two. The glitchy new forum format combined with a new job made for minimal visits.

do you still have that set of 8 (or 10 or 12?) Rastad and Relling Bambi chairs? I recall you had a nice set sitting idly in storage.

Hey cdsilva, long time no speak!

Yes, believe it or not I still have them along with that pair of second series ESU’s.  I have this notion that one day I will move out of this 1 bedroom apartment in NYC into a bigger place where these will finally see the light of day.. you still collecting?

Still collecting. I’ve always been a value collector, where I’m constantly looking for pieces that slip under the radar. If not many of those pop up, then I can go a while without buying anything. Next thing you know a bunch of good stuff pops up all at once on Craigslist, and I’m driving all over town trying to beat everyone else to the pot of gold.
