Weir bottom of Fritz Hansen chairs

These chairs have the metal cap, but instead of 4 openings for the legs, there are 6 with one extra short bar. Does anyone knows if this is original, I've never sen this on other chairs. Thanks in advance. They have the number 0266, so they date from february '66.

Hi. I have seen such chairs already so this is definitely original. 
Not sure what is the purpose exactly but this has to be linked with armrests. Maybe, to give customers the possibility to add armrests at a later stage... I don’t know.

Can you show another image with the cap/cover unscrewed?  Is the extra metal bar loose/removable or welded with the legs?

Actually they should be welded, otherwise they would drop out.
