Hello, just picked these up at my local transfer stations claim section and wondering what the experts think. No makers mark.
I wouldn't call myself an expert on Planner Group chairs but they look legit. It was a hugely successful line and they produced a ton of these chairs. Here's a shot of a tagged example for comparison. The tags were just stickers, so easily lost over the years.
Thank you for the response. That does match exact other than the sticker. I was admiring the bevel cut to thin out the front as soon as I got them home. Small detail but pure genius.
I've got one of the small dining tables. You can see how they beveled the leg cleats in a similar manner.
Those nice woodworker details on the seat surface are just inserted inlay pieces and not really part of the leg attachment.
It is Paul Mccobb giving homage to the traditional homesteader plank chair, the ancestor of the Windsor chair and the inspiration for the Planner Group chairs.
On a related note, I recently acquired these Woodard Allegro chairs that came out a few years after McCobb’s. Obviously inspired by the success of the Planner Group line.
