Has anyone seen this odd leather wrap on an eames chair before? Everything else is on the level, the tags, handwritten marks, cushions and connectors, it’s got the original cotton stuffed in the ottoman base from the factory as well. The shock mounts are correct down to the look of the adhesive.
…except this super weird leather piece on the front of the seat and also on the ottoman edge. I’ve tried searching and cannot find anything. Has anyone seen this before and/or know what it is? Chair was made in 2004 according to the sticker.
@whatisinaname, Try inquiring of HM directly. I've not seen this before, but they did offer some unusual custom options back then for corporate and institutional clients. I remember seeing an office furnishings auction lot of ES670s from that period that had perforated leather upholstery (which I had not seen before nor since).
