Hi Folks
I was starting a new project today and when I stripped back the chairs came across a label - SOS Made In Denmark. I spent a few hours online looking for any information regarding them and came up with very little. Does anyone have any information regarding them?
Thanks
Ed
Well spotted @kyle-barrett and its a line worth pursuing. I will get back if I find anything.
Thanks again.
Ed
@edmccoll @kyle-barrett No, it's not Farstrup. S.O.S. stands for Sofus Olsen and Son. The company was located in Møldrup in Northern Zealand. It was founded by Sofus Olsen, his son Henry took business over in the late 50s. As the truck in the pic sais, they produced dining tables and dining chairs. They survived the 70s and 80s, also producing children's furniture. I can't even tell whether they still exist. The local archive in Møldrup seems to have quite a lot info on them. The chair is interesting. It looks like Theodor Harlev for Farstrup but I think that the side rail is not in the correct position. My suggestion is that they "redesigned" the rather successful (IKEA) Harlev design.

Thanks you so much for all of that information, you are indeed a wealth of knowledge.
Really appreciate the time you took to post that.
Thanks

Oh, wow! Very nice! Also interesting for @lexi because of the rounded backrest.

@herringbone. Yes indeed. Nice to have a verified, previously unknown , "curved" back chair..
@vildbjerg-lkj. Thank you.

@kyle-barrett After taking a closer look I can say without sounding recalcitrant: No, it doesn’t look like a Harlev design. It’s a copy. And now we know something about the business model of SOS Møbelfabrik in the 60s. 😁

@herringbone. Your skills at reproducing an image , in sharp focus, leave me "gobsmacked" ! 😲

@lexi Glad I impressed you. But the trick is quite simple. I found the original photo. It had a higher resolution.
