i've been led to believe that these mid-century wire chairs are a john risley design. i can't verify. my uncle says that the mark underneath the cushion is would be useless even if it was legible (L@#d&: manufacturing co. gardena california?) as it only hints at the cushion maker. hmmm. any help would be appreciated.

interesting looking chairs but more like risley-esque.  john risley's furniture  (for raymor) are whimsical and playful, are very refined and high quality/well made, commanding high prices when they show up.  risley's chairs does not skimp on the welded metal rods which are thinner/smaller that what was used on your chairs.  the chairs have the recurring male, female and some animal figures and the chairs came with cushions but not fixed upholstered seats and back like your chairs.  risley (like noguchi and bertoia) concentrated more on sculture than furniture design.  your chairs look good for what they are, enjoy them.
