Hello,
I intend to buy this Lounge chair from Charles Eames Herman Miller edition. The seller says that it is a model whose wood is palissander. It is 2013. However, I have a doubt when he removed the cushion from the top seat. There is no rosewood veneer. Do you think it's a fake? Thank you all for your answer. Have a good evening. Robin.
It's good to cautious about these as the knockoffs have gotten better about details. My experience is with vintage versions and I don't know if HM still veneers both sides of the panels with the same wood specie. Perhaps best to ask them directly via email including photos. Good luck!
Thank you tktoo2 for your feedback. I contacted HM, but they prefer that I contact my local HM. Except that HM in France, is not an importer of the Eames lounge, it is Vitra in Europe. Is there anyone who has a 2013 Eames Lounge HM who can remove the top cushion and tell me if there is Palissandre underneath? Thank you very much in advance.
I'm no expert on these chairs, but one detail I found, according to a few sites online, is that Herman Miller used the black label in your picture from 1971-1991. Beginning in 1991 they used this silver label. So, if this is supposed to be a 2013 chair, that would be a potential red flag.
Hello
Yes Mark the logo that you describe is available on the chair, and the second one is available on Ottoman.
I think the logos under the chair and under the ottoman are correct. The problem is the veneer or not of the goose under the cushion.
Another information: zips are present on the cushions (at the back of course)
@ objectworship, Good question! The short answer would be to assure a balanced lamination. Herman Miller practiced this for decades on all of their Eames ES670/671 sets though the individual veneer leaves used on concealed surfaces were of a lesser grade and not book-matched as on the "show" sides.
