Hello

I don't suppose anybody recognises the below armchair? I've tried all search combinations but with no luck. Possibly beech stained to look teak but these are the only photos I have.

Thanks!

Turns out the chair is plywood and not beech as originally thought...

"Plywood" implies mass-produced flat sheet material. In this case, "bent-ply construction" might be a more apt descriptor and the wood specie does appear as beech.

@mark84, It's an interesting enough chair. Kinda loving the overall concept and especially the patina. Would be great to see the original cushion(s)!

Two quick questions:  How are/were the Pirelli straps secured in the grooves, and is that greenish stuff around the underside fasteners corrosion product?

I've managed to find the chair in a book called 'Modern British Furniture Design since 1945 by Lesley Jackson'.

It was made by Stag.

The webbing is secured with some metal clasp type things (photo below) and the green stuff appears to be some sort of putty weirdly.

Thanks again for your help.

@mark84. Glad you found your answer. It never occured to me to check out Stag; I am more familiar with their cabinets/sideboards.

Post script; My curiosity was piqued so went searching. Found this link which gives some information about the chair for those of you who are interested.

Thanks great thanks lexi!

Yeah as you say I only really know Stag for cabinets/units rather than chairs.
