I just learned that Fox News gets its data from Associated Press, and AP is actually a reputable source.

Edit: Biden wins Michigan. According to CNN.

Much appreciated, but I'm more of a Jack Daniels, Gauloises, and Prozac kind of guy.

@tktoo2

The German newspapers already report 264 electoral votes for Biden, the Post and the NYT only 253.

Either you are too slow or that is wishful thinking of the German newspapers.

@mvc Difference must be Arizona (11 votes), which some outlets still show as undecided.  Trump campaign has been saying all day they expect to win it, but as we know they sometimes shade the truth.  Reportedly, Trump is down 92K with about 600K votes to be counted.  Trump's people project they will win by 30K when all are counted.

I just learned that the counting of votes in Nevada will take until next wednesday. Do you know why?

@mvc There are a large number of mail-in and provisional ballots to be counted there but a big group, about 50K, will be reported tomorrow morning.  The bulk of outstanding ballots are from the Las Vegas area, which is majority Democrat, so most people expect Biden's lead (currently around 11K) to increase.  PA might be completed today and the smart money is on Biden overtaking Trump (currently up 100K), which would make Nevada's results meaningless.   Keep your Champagne chilled.

Should I come over and help? I have an old wooden toy adding-machine, not teak but absolutely corrupt, with every vote for Trump it immediately stops counting.

Thanks for the info, sounds good!

@mvc  Whatever you have is probably more efficient than what Nevada is using.  I just heard Georgia officials "found" some additional ballots.  Currently about 47K left to count and Trump's lead is down to 13K.  Looks like there's a good chance Georgia ends up in Biden's column, making PA and NV meaningless.

Good morning  @mark737

Even if Biden urges patience, my champagne can't last long in the bottle, it's already vibrating.

Hope that the results of Georgia and PA will finally be published today. According to the latest reports we can be optimistic.

@mvc  Biden now up in PA and GA.  PA lead likely to increase while GA could still end up Trump after military and provisional ballots counted.  Some outlets, i.e. Decision Desk HQ, have now called the election for Biden.  Expect the networks to call soon, probably after next round of PA results.

When I followed Joe Biden's speech last night, I thought, ohlala, the man looks pretty groggy and does not make a good impression on his health.
A theoretical question: What does the American constitution provide for the event that a candidate suddenly fails for health reasons shortly before his election victory and it is foreseeable that he will subsequently not be able to execute the office as President?

@mvc  Yes,  Biden is clearly in cognitive decline.  The campaign has tried to hide it as much as possible by limiting his appearances, but once he's President-Elect there will be no hiding.  If he dies before the Electoral College votes on December 14, they would vote for Harris and then she picks a new VP. I think, legally, there is a possibility democrats could decide to pick someone else but that would be a very messy process, and extremely unlikely since they'd be denying a  black woman, and the optics of that would be terrible.  Arizona is supposed to report more results in about an hour.
