Hi everyone.
I came across this stool/ottoman and I am wondering if it the real deal or not?
Seems unmarked and dimensions seem about right. The beautiful upholstery doesn’t look original though.

What I find a bit suspicious is the clear wood on the underside (looks like beech but can’t really see from the pictures) + very dark ´teak’ that could be afrormosia or just very dark picture.

What do you guys think? @leif-ericson maybe?

Ok. Just compared with the dimensions on PP Møbler website and it’s 5 cm too wide: 70 cm vs 65.

Thought it was vintage copy. But then comes this one: same dimensions (70 cm) but marked with a DFMC medallion.

Any clue?

It looks real to me. The lack of a mark means nothing.

That would be one impressive knockoff by replicating the underside framing details of 1) notched corners and joint locations, and 2) larger diameter recess on the frame for the leg connections. Knockoff tend not to pay that close attention to details not normally seen.

Its a copy of the brand not original.

where you want to buy it?

if you are not satisfied you can visit  mobler site compare it with original product .\

but it seems a copy

that's my opinion.

Hi Kenneth.

Thanks for your opinion. However, even if I have my doubts too, I tend to trust Leif and Cdsilva that are highly knowledgeable members of this forum when it comes to danish modern.

Just read that PP Møbler slightly changed the dimensions for its PP120 vs the AP 29. (Den Store Danske Møbelguide)
That explains the extra 5 cm.

Pay no attention to Kenneth. He is either:

1) english-as-a-second-language troll, or

2) an AI bot, for which someone is using this forum to fine tune their coding.

@cdsilva ahaha, yes that is what I figured out. Anyway, I have bought a pair of them yesterday for a very sweet price (if they are real that is). Can’t wait to receive them and have them reupholstered !

Dr P, could I ask a favor please. When you re-upholster, could you check to see if the leg joints to the frame are wedged through tenons, like both the Papa Bear chair, and the similar Johannes Hansen-made stool?

While the wedged tenon in JH stool clearly doubles as a design feature, the one in the Papa Bear chair is mostly hidden. I'd love to see a hidden one even more in the Papa Bear stool. It would only be there for joint integrity and durability.

Nice.

Looks like you might also have original coir and rubberized horse/hog hair for the padding. Make sure to keep that during the reupholstering effort.
