Definitely a legitimate A.P. Stolen chair, with an incorrectly-done reupholstering job. Multiple details are 1) paw construction, 2) seat framing shape, 3) 7 by 3 strap arrangement in that pattern, and 4) wedged tenon joint for the front legs,
I’m not sure if there are design revisions that can differentiate early to later production.
Reupholstering a Papa Bear is a complex process. Not having the original upholstery (or correct reupholstery) to use as cutting templates makes it even more tricky.
Can you elaborate why this is a poor reupholstery job? I've seen some that are very obviously bad, but this isn't as egregious as those.
