I have this (beech?) rocker which looks very similiar to number 182 designed by Frank Reenskaug for Bramin ? I will not have a picture of the paper label for a few days but I do recall it referred to south america on it. Were later versions of this rocker manufactured in south america? or would that indicate a possible copy? there is clearly some visible age to the rocker as well as the previous owner indicated that his parents had it .....'forever' ;)I will add a picture of the sticker label tomoroow or the next day...just wndered if anyone knew if these started out being manufactured in denmark and then moved to SA?first pic is mine2nd pic an attributed Frank Reenskaug, borrowed pic from modernchairrestoration siteHappy (Canadian) Thanksgiving
so, here is the label sticker on the chair...
when you google image this company with the words rocking chair many danish rockers show up from the 'retrostart' site. I noticed that mine had 7 rungs on the back so that was the defining difference but have since seen a 182 bramin attributed chair with 7 rungs.
I have attached a closeup of the wood...beech right? beech in bogota?
it is a direct copy from what I can tell if it is not associated with the bramin chair,
thanks for looking/comments welcome
I know of at least 3 different period (early 1960s) catalogs with the Reenskaug rocker. And they all have 7 spokes.
I have never heard of that company.
And I am not sure what that wood is. Certainly does not look like beech under a stain. Looks a bit like mahogany. But knowing the chair is from Colombia, there could be a much wider range of options than we expect with Danish Modern from Denmark.
thank you for your input...this one has me stumped...this chair is the classic sooooo close and yet so far from right....to the #182 but wrong mark, wrong material, etc...too many wrongs.
It is strange to me that I cannot locate another if some manufacturer so carefully bothered to replicate it there should be more but so goes google eh?
Anyway, the reason I thought beech was the grain in the first wood photo...not the one with the sticker. I thought the dash type grain might be beech from past questions but I am not surprised in the least to have guessed incorrectly.
I see visible hardware on my chair as well as many attributed to bramin online but I cannot see the hardware on the side of the rocker in the ad you posted but that could be picture angle and quality etc., I would assume.
thanks for the ad...I think I will try to translate...intrigued by the funny costumes on the models...
