Need Help w/ID on Unusual Modern Floor Light  

i just came across this light.  i've never seen it before.  it stands 4 feet tall.  the grill is on both sides is enameled white metal and i'm pretty sure the wood is birch.  there's an off-white plastic shade on on the inside.  i can't find any name or country of origin marks anywhere.  there's a metal plate on the base showing a fair amount of wear and corrosion.   the light switch is American.   has anyone ever seen this before?  any ideas who the designer might be?  any information would be greatly appreciated...thanks
