Best wishes for the New Year fellow addicts!
Well, some of you may remember my fondness for bat crazy wingback chairs as per this discussion a couple of years ago regarding a chair I still cannot identify but truly enjoy in our home.

I recently delivered these to the upholsterer. They are getting a new dress in
Maharam Divina Melange by Kvadrat in a dark grey. Hopefully it will look cool.
Anyway, I was drawn not to the lovely 80s or 90s floral but once again those crazy wings.
While the last chair was determined to be teak and beech I do not think this one is teak.
Of course I considered that these were Pearsall but they actually seem better constructed than that.
The previous owner said she got them at auction some 20 years ago and was told they were Scandinavian but the bases seem much more north american to me. The seat cover under the cushion on the couch is a pink quilted satin etc and so i think if things did look different they were replaced in the 80's 90's redo.
The poor upholstery/ patch job on the back of the chair was apparently to save money since the chair would sit up against a wall so the floral yardage was not used ... I do not have a picture o the sofa but it is also a crazy winged piece 🙂
the chair pic with the ottoman is that bat winged crazy chair from the past thread just for fun
Interested in any input on origin / comments etc.
thanks so much for your time

Hello, just wanted to update on this pair. Still no idea where they came from but they look much better with some maharam divina melange 180 on them (gray is a little darker than in pics).
Proud of my upholsterer ...he had to hand sew most of it to properly manage the wings and curves. This set is amazingly comfortable...the wings kind of hug you ...and who does not need a little hug these days , cheers!
Wow! Nice job! They look infinitely better in this understated, solid gray.
I've been curious for a long time about how Divina and other wool felt fabrics wear. Some of them state that they will shed or pill. I've never used them on anything of my own for that reason though I really love them as fabric.
I hope not Spanky, because the fabric was not inexpensive and is a Kvadrat product.
I chose it based on their reputation so fingers crossed. It does not look like fabric that would pill or shed as it sits on the couch. It is well constructed and has a nice hand.
Years ago I had a couch with a washable wool felt cover and that thing was a champion...never shed or pilled and not nearly as nice as this fabric....hopefully this will be even better 🙂
I think some wool felt sheds or pills because the fibers are short and/or are of a wool variety that doesn't lock onto itself as securely as some others. (Wool from some kinds of sheep barely felts at all while wool from others will start to felt if you even think about touching it---almost.) I have see a warning on at least one wool felt from a major mill that said something like "this fabric will shed"---which is all that it takes to keep me from using it. But then, I did a lot of upholstery for other people and the last thing I wanted was for someone to come back a year or two later with a chair covered in pills.
