I am buying this couch and chairs today for $150 on CL, a steal that I am stoked about. They look very similar to Milo Baughman for Thayer Coggin Tufted Sofa but the tag says Monarch. Can anyone help identify if they are Milo pieces? Should I buy?

Buy it because you like it, it appeals to you and it will will serve a long term purpose in your life and not only for the designer pedigree. I don't think it is a Milo Baughman piece but if it is, then that's an extra bonus for you. If you mean $150 for all pieces (assuming these are in perfect usable condition), that is a great deal compared to the disposable lower quality made furniture produced during the last 25 years or so.
Great advice Minimoma! It was $150 for all andI proudly brought them home yesterday.
Spanky, yes, the white couch is listed on 1stdibs as a Milo Baughman and I have seen the chairs attributed to him as well but I am not positive they are. There is no MB signature tag on any of the pieces. I attached a pic of the Monarch tag. I have been trying to do lots of research on the specific chair and sofa as well as Monarch but coming up with lots of contradictory information.
Baughman is one of the most popular names to put on stuff that is mid-century modern. 1stDibs is rife with false attributions as are many other sites that look like they might care about such things. Without photos of Thayer Coggin labels on these particular pieces, I would just assume that's what's going on here.
I saw a listing for a sofa with very similar proportions to yours and the same style of tufting pretty much, but the arms are different. The dealer said that all original tags were on it though he/she didn't show the photos for whatever reasons.
You could try hunting down Thayer Coggin catalogs from that era online--people upload that stuff all the time. There may be some here for all I know.
As for the Monarch tag---I googled "Monarch Furniture" and found a Pinterest page with a lot of newer stuff but I think i spotted your things too.
Either way--$150 for all three is a great buy. And for what it's worth, I bought a no-name sofa with original vinyl at auction about 16-17 years ago for $60 and reupholstered it in a good quality wool fabric and have no plans to part with it. It's super comfortable and I love the look!
Oh, also--just saw that your tag says the cushions are latex---if they are not dried out yet, enjoy them while you can! My vinyl sofa had the original latex foam too but it started to degrade when I redid the sofa in fabric (air causes latex to harden starting around 15-20 years, and my foam made up for lost time. Being encased in vinyl keeps it from contact with air. But I just invested in new latex cushions and life is good again.)
Thayer Coggin is still around and still producing Milo Baughman furniture.
