I acquired this chair this morning from someone who purchased it second-hand over 20 years ago. He said it originally had wicker, which he removed because it was badly deteriorated beyond repair. In my research, I'm coming across makers/importers names like Knoll, Stendig, Gavina. Gordon, etc. To add to the confusion, I found one for sale with "original Stendig Made in Italy label, and purchased through Knoll in Los Angeles in mid 1970's" in the description.
Based on the hardware, is it possible to date this chair and also tell who made/imported it? Anything that is connected with screws utilizes a flat-head screw, and the rivets are on the bottom of the seat bars where the tubes connect. The curved stretcher under the seat is not welded, and rocks back and forth. Also, the frame is strongly attracted to a magnet.
Also, is there a resource that provides leather sling seats/backs?
Many thanks for your thoughts!
