I have been collecting and repairing mid century furniture for over 20 yrs and I am pretty familiar with detecting when an item has been altered. No alterations here

Sorry, I thought you stated that you weren't sure about that?

due to the light weight teak wood and the structure of the table I'm not sure if the marble top is original?

I stated that I wasn't sure about the top being original to the piece? Not the construction of the table.

Every online forum has it's own set of norms, official and unofficial rules, tone etc. Some are really serious, others engage in a lot of off-topic banter. Some really encourage ball-busting, and others will ban you for mildly insults.

Whenever I join a new forum, I usually lurk for quite a while to make sure I get the lay of the land before I dive right in with comments. I just think that's polite. Forums are like clubs you are joining and it's nice to be welcomed.

So, I am always surprised here when someone new pops up and starts acting like a jackass right off the bat.

Would it not seem that the marble top is original to a mountain on a continent somewhere?

Leif, you are friggin' hilarious! I agree that it looks absurd without a larger surface and that "something's changed". If you know Brian Regan's humor you'll get it.
