hi all, I've spent ages learning great stuff on this forum. I have found this lovely table (might be teak? not sure) and I have very strong reason to believe that it is designed by Erik Buch for Orum Mobler - does anyone know anything about this maker - do they still exist? I have looked but haven't found any obvious details.
Apparently this table is rather rare - (that will explain why I can't find out much about it) - could it have been sold by Heal's? It has a tidy extending mechanism where the end of the table slides out and the leaves are concealed underneath. It has beautifully sculpted cross bars joining the legs.
Any info would be very gratefully received.

thanks both, that is v interesting. The reason for my theory on the maker is that coincidentally, on the day I bought it, someone else posted an identical table with apparently matching chairs with the Orum Mobelfabrik stamp so as these things often went together, I thought it might be the same maker. However, it is very interesting to see the name you give - I can look into this a bit more now - thanks very much for your help
For the record, there is no such manufacturer called Orum Mobler, or at least none that was affiliated with Erik Buck.
The name of the company which made some of Buck's chair designs was R. Skovgaard Jensen, located in Orum, Denmark. RSJ chose to have a logo that left their name out of it, and only included the town they were based in. Hence nowadays, everyone sees the stamp and thinks there was an "Orum Mobler".
Attached are the two RSJ stamps I am aware of, as well as a clip from a magazine ad which shows logo, firm name, and address.
That stamp is for Ølholm Mobelfabrik, located in Ølholm, Denmark. Designers associated with Ølholm were Henning Kjærnulf and Sigmund Omann. Here is a clearer version of your stamp. There is no relation to R Skovgaard Jensen or Orum, Denmark.
On a related note, the factory Omann Jun was also based in Ølholm, so there is a very good chance that Sigmund was related to that family. And while I have not yet had a chance to look into it, there is also a possibility that Ølholm Møbelfabrik was the predecessor firm to Omann Jun.
Ølholm Møbelfabrik was not the predecessor firm to Omann jun. Although Ølholm is a very small village with less than 1000 inhabitants, it used to have two furniture companies at the same time. Omann jun was founded in 1933 by Andreas Omann and has been active ever since. Ølholm møbelfabrik was founded around the same time by Andreas Omann‘s brother Sigfred and existed at least well into the 60s. I would love to see a reference to Kjærnulf.

I don’t have any reference source beyond this DFI listing. They are usually right, but also have a decent number of errors and inconsistencies in their database.
