I don't know who made your lamp but most of the well known American lamp manufacturers from that period that I had encountered in the past have its name on the UL sticker or decal but the majority of these typical 1950s lamps just have a standard UL label.
Before author Cara Greenberg coined the term mid- century modern for her book in 1984, your lamp was most likely described by sellers back then as "post war modern", "atomic", "starburst","kitsch" or a combination of those terms and most likely have a fiberglass shade. I think these genre of lamps have a cult following that there are new shades being produced today specifically for this style and you just have to search online a seller for that.
Thank you for your replies. I have two of these lamps and the wooden ball appears to be solid walnut. The other example is darker and in better shape. The lamp is heavy and well-made. I own Lightolier's, Laurel and Stiffel lamps and I'm familiar with the UL-label and that is how I identify most of the stuff but this one has me stumped.
Here is an example owned by another collector in Chicago in much better condition. The shade is not original but he said the glass diffuser is. It doesn't seem like the typical kitschy 50's lamp with a fiberglass shade (nothing against Majestic lamps). I've only ever seen 5 examples: a pair on 1st dibs, the married pair I have and the nice example I'm showing in the latest round of pics. Another guy that I know was stumped but he was guessing European. The search continues......
