I have this sofa I bought it has the, I believe to be original velvet cushions.  I can’t find a marker but looks identical to one I found on 1stdibs labeled as a kofod-Larsen. Just wanting to know how I know if it is in fact a Kofod Larsen piece?

Hi.

Ib Kofod Larsen never designed sofas hanging from the ceiling ... no, joke apart .. I would imagine that I am familiar with all Kofod Larsen sofas, but ... nobody can claim to know everything about design ... anyway, this model I have never seen before and I would be surprised if it should actually be a Kofod Larsen sofa. Do you have the link to 1stdibs?

Oh ya no it’s not hanging from the ceiling.  The person did put upholstery tack down over the webbing, someone way back when.  Guessing if there is a marker it would be underneath.  Here is the link to the sofa identical in all shape and design.

Indeed, Baumritter, never heard, thanks Mark.

Edit: Sounds German, Baumritter, but I just learned it's an American company.

Yes, started in 1932 and based in New York. They were largest furniture co in the world in the 1960s. They changed name to Ethan Allen in 1972. They had a subsidiary called Viko that made modern styles in the 50s and 60s.

Thank you! Do either of you know anything about the company trend pacific? I have a low boy style chair from them and really can’t find much. This one collapses for easy shipping.  Said it was made in Japan and I know they partnered with some famous Japanese mid century designers.  Used to be darker I have sanded it but I need to stain and finish.
