Hi all, I found a set of 5 chairs in my grandmother's attic yesterday. According to my aunt they would have been there for about 40 years. They have a Johannes Hansen/Wegner plaque. I thought I would check here whether they could indeed be authentic? And if so, how do I best go about restoring them? Crossing my fingers!
@lmbeck; nice chairs. A quick internet search confirms your suggestion that it is possibly the JH507 , but without the arms. Very few images out there of the armless version ( side chair/dining chair). However did find one, single image only, of side chairs and armchair.
Perhaps a more knowleable member can add more information/confirm model number. The label appears to be authentic.

These are very nice chairs you have there @lmbeck. The makers mark looks legit to me, Johannes Hansen used it from 1951 to 1961 as far as I remember, that would be consistent with the fact that the JH507 was designed in 1952 and only produced in small numbers. I don’t know what you already know. It seems that this design - which was new to me - is rare as an arm chair and even rarer as a side chair. Since it was made by Johannes Hansen, it can be considered cabinetmaker furniture which implies that you should‘t mess around with it, which of course you didn‘t intend to do. The question is: What kind of problems do you see? Are there any lose joints? Broken pieces? How is the condition of the leather? If the chairs appear to be in a good shape, you probably shouldn‘t do much at all. I can‘t really make out the type of wood. Is it teak?
