Hi together,

I want to purchase a set of 4 Johannes Andersen chairs, but I am a little confused, the chairs are not labeled with an "Uldum" tag, but a "d-Scan" tag, made in Singapore.

Could it be a knock-off?

Thanks for your help.

There are a number of Uldum chairs designed by Johannes Andersen which ended up in very similar, if not identical Singapore production by d-Scan. I believe d-Scan was either started, or somehow supported by a Danish entity in the 70’s as a means of survival as the Danish teak furniture industry was imploding. Although I have not read this anywhere nor have any proof, I believe the d-Scan chair designs were authorized by either Uldum or Andersen, and that they were therefore not knockoffs, per se.

And it looks like Dixie Furniture imported and sold these d-Scan produced pieces in the USA.  Not only the the Andersen/Uldum chairs but Moller 85 style chairs as well.
