that can help identify this chair? It's lovely.

Beside who made this for whom (no, no markings anwhere), what do you call that beautiful joining in the chair back?

Any and all help will be appreciated. Even snark from Aunt Mark.

Toodles.

Suspect it's not joinery per se, but veneer laid to resemble exposed, floating (or loose) tenon joinery found in some vintage Danish Modern chairs. The two major pieces on the back are "bookmatched". First impression is walnut.

Hahaha.

The chair looks honest. And more.

yup,

Aunt Mark

ps I don't think that it was built out of wood in a garage by a horny old man...but I've been wrong before.

Walnut. And I agree with tktoo that the bookmatched sides look suspiciously like veneer work mimicking a joint. A photo showing the top of the backrest would reveal if the joint fails to carry all the way through.

Oh, and a photo of the underside of the chair might help suggest where it was made.

I'd put money on veneer and N. American origin.

Mark's been out there since before I first visited here. Ray is to blame, I believe.

I wouldn't bet against you tk for anything other than enormously good odds. The only chance it has of being of it wants to appear to be: Danish, is if it is notably early, like from pre-1954 or so, when the Danes hadn't started using teak except in ultra low volume cabinetmaker production.

Here are some more pictures which, to some of your delight, proves a point or three... Any more that can be told from these?

That a bet against tktoo would have been a losing bet.

Flat plywood seat panel appears as poplar and square-head bolts. Yup, almost certainly US made by any one of many producers of mid-market furnishings at the time. Not a bad-looking set, though, for what it's worth.

Thank goodness we'll never know what might happen if Mark had an old board and a garage.

Yeah, it looks great but it's just that comfortable (too hard a seat for me) but it still looks great to me... Thanks for the confirmation... kind of.

It's honestly a chair. Four of them. Handsome too. Apparently cheap 🙁
