Hi! I recently picked up a set of Westnofa “wing” chairs and ottoman. In my research I’m getting two different babes, Ingmar and Harold Relling, as the designers. I had never seen anything with Harald Relling as the designer and was wondering if anyone here could help?!
Thanks!
@ponyboy. The "Wing" chair was designed by Harald Relling in the 70's ( not sure of date) and manufactured by P.I. Langlo mobelfabrikker. This company has a long history and was eventually taken over by Ekornes. From what I have read Harald was "self" taught and started designing for P.I. Langlo in the 50's and continued to work with the design team at Ekornes when they took over.
On a side note, both P.I.Langlo and Ekornes were part of Westnofa, an export marketing company set up in 1954, which most of the larger Norwegian companies joined as they saw the benefits of such a collaboration.
Including a photo which shows Harald beside the Wing chair. This was posted on a Norwegian facebook forum. No date or name of publication provided.

@ponyboy. As I have not found a catalogue image I can't say for sure but it is most probable.

@lexi Thanks for the interesting background info on Westnofa and P I Langlo, and the picture of Mr. Relling. He is a handsome man, but I don't think I'd go as far as to call him a babe.
@mark737. You are welcome. Do you speak Norwegian or did you do a Google translate on that article? Which word is "babe"? !! It might come in useful at some stage, in some random conversation in a bar in Oslo, for example. 😆
Random trivia about him.
:- He was still working at Ekornes into his 80's .
:-Apparently he was a well known ski instructer at some stage.

The question now arises: Who suffers more and turns around in the grave more often? Ingmar, because that ... mmmh ... "beautiful" armchair is assigned to him, or Harald, because the only armchair he has ever designed in his life is constantly assigned to Ingmar. Such is life. Even in the grave. 😎
@mark737. 🤣
I did not even notice the typo!!
If I ever find myself in Oslo .... Deilig will be at the tip of my tongue. Thanks; useful word to have in many situations. 😏
When this pandemic has run it's course I would really love to visit Norway. Such beautiful scenery.
