Hi I just bought this chair and I was hoping for help with identification. I’m just starting to learn about danish design. I can post a pic of it together soon. It is simply marked made in Denmark.

Update: it appears to be walnut and the rod across the bottom is brass. The rod looks to be unusual as I research these chairs.

This chair is fascinating. The walnut and the metal rod make me think American, so the Made in Denmark stamp is irritating. Maybe it was produced for the American market. The design has an 80s/90s feel to it. I don‘t know. Maybe Lexi can help?

I’m so intrigued by it too. Thank you for the help. I ran across this listing for it this morning (see pic) the listing says 60’s and states made in Denmark stamp but does not say a designer. I’m astounded by the price! I paid $40. It’s in nice shape too. Could it be worth even near this figure or is that just an inflated price?

I found that listing too: a dealer in Los Angeles. I also found another one ( sold) in MA; again no info as to maker etc. They don't even mention the Denmark connection.

As Herringbone has suggested, produced in Denmark for the American market.

I like the nice clean lines on the chair.

Lexi.

Oh, when I said 80s/90s, I meant Danish/European style. American furniture had shapes and  lines like that in the 60s, so that‘s consistent. When looking for the maker you should probably look for an American company that had this chair made in Denmark but probably sold it under its own brand.

That is great advice thank you! I’ll definitely be starting the search now. I’ve completely fallen in love with the look of this chair! I love the lines!

A lovely chair. I like its design. Such a chair would be perfect for an office.
I recently moved and bought a new house. Naturally, you need to repair it since some parts of the house are simply falling apart. Now I am arranging my terrace. It is already ancient, and I had to change all the wood. I also plan to change the garden furniture. In addition, I found a great option on https://www.gardenfurniture.co.uk . I also need a good repair in the living room, and as I said, such an armchair would fit perfectly into the interior. Can you tell me where I can buy the same?

I assumed this chair  was sold by Selig based on this vintage ad showing it with all these other Selig designs.

Thread from 2 years ago about this chair, and designer Dan Johnson.

And Danish Modern LA still have it listed as "by Trollopes" , and still haven't sold it.  After almost two years, you'd think they might lower the price a bit.

Jessie is not concerned with lowering prices, he plays the long game with big mark-ups. 😉
