Hi everyone,
Does anybody know something about this chair? It was from my grandmother.
on the bottom it says: made in Italy
and engraved is the code: E A 6 9 1
Thank you!
I bought recently a Mackintosh replica chair, which has also just a sticker "Made in Italy". I would also say replica of Thonet of some company in Italy. Maybe something like this website: https://www.classic-design24.com/
Continuing our copyright discussion...some countries, like Italy, had their own copyright laws that required works to be of high artistic value to qualify for protection. This explains why replica furniture is still made and sold in Italy by companies like Classic Design. But in Sept 2019, the Cofemel decision by the EU's top court expanded protection to utilitarian objects like furniture and clothing if they are sufficiently creative. This should make replica furniture production illegal in Italy but apparently it is not yet being enforced.
Thank you for your responses! Very interesting.
I was planning to sell the chair, as my apartment is really small and I don't have any room to store it. But I have absolutely no idea what price range I should sell this for... Do you have an idea?
I know it is difficult based on a picture.
Thanks in advance.
We generally do not make price estimation in this forum. I can only say that you must not be under any illusions, it's just a replica, it has no value. Maybe you can find someone who will fall in love with the chair and pays a few euros/dollars for it.
Agree with @mvc in terms of value. This might give you some idea (pair sold for $100):

Was it just me or did this thread disappear for a few days?
The thread actually disappeared, I was surprised too. Maybe because she changed her member name.
