Hi Guys,
New to the forums. I picked up a Tulip Base floor lamp at a thrift few weeks ago. And I can't for the life of me decide what kind of Shade went on it. Maybe you experts can point me in the right direction.
It's a white enameled Tulip base floor lamp, with a brown cord stamped lightolier. It's a dimmer switch lamp. And It has a Conical/Cone shaped shade base with a ceramic bulb socket - this is wesr im conflicted.
My gut wants me to throw a Glass globe on it and call it a day, but I can't justify the way the lines look in my mind and also the screw-on" socket head leads me to believe that it doesn't fit* the look. I spent some time googling similar lamps, screenshots of old catalogs and browsed the archives here for a bit to no avail. I also considered contacting Lightolier (Phillips) but was discouraged by their very corporate website.
Let me know what you guys know about this tulip base lamp and what you think original sat atop it for a shade. Thanks so much.

Oh golly that's a tough one....
I just went through some images and couldn't find your exact base... but maybe it's this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/LAUREL-Vtg-Mid-Century-Modern-Chrome-Mushroom-Tu...
So, perhaps the mushroom top of it is not included because it's so obtrusive and cumbersome. It could be something very easily lost. Here's another view:
As a remedy, maybe craft a 'light cloud' like this for extra creative flair? :

Thanks for the reply, Rick!
It is a tough one. I'm very much a purist when I restore anything. I did consider it possibly being a mushroom or half dome panton/saarinen type shade but I'm not too familiar with lamps and shades types. The screw socket and the cone really throw me off. Maybe it's as simple as a cone glass diffuser to continue the conical lines? Tulip base and cone seem like weird design to me though.
I'll spend some more time browsing chairing and 1st dibs and other sites. Anyone else? Thabks
