Hi,
Im looking at a set of wishbone chairs that look old and have been woefully rewoven. The lady insists theyre vintage along with the rest of her furniture, and they were rewoven in 1991.
I'd expect to see Carl Hansen stamped on the underside of the seat, where the backrest meets the seat.
Were many unmarked? Any construction elements a giveaway?
I have some pictures too.

I just finished a set of eight that belong to a Danish couple who moved here from Denmark. They bought them in Denmark 40 years ago. Some have labels and some just have incised numbers. So it's entirely possible that yours are legit but yeah, overall photos would help.
I know I've seen very old Wegner chairs with just single incised digits, no other marks. I might even have photos somewhere. I'll look.
Yeah, that's what I remember was the case.
Side note: I saw a Wishbone recently with a barcode label where the usual label is. The owner said the chair was genuine---and also new, but couldn't name the retailer who sold it. I got the sense that the owner wasn't knowledgable about Danish furniture and might not be aware that there are fakes out there. Is there a US retailer, like DWR or whatever, who would put a barcode on a genuine Wegner chair? Seems like something you'd only see on a fake. There weren't any other alarm bells that went off but I also didn't look at the chair closely at all. The weaving was as it should be for a real one but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. I wish I'd looked at the whole chair more closely.
