I have a set of chairs that look like Preben Schou, but are without the appropriate marking. I found a matching set online, marked with Virsidan A/S from the early 1990s, but the ones I have are marked with a red symbol and the model (?) 00987. One chair still has a Made in Denmark sticker. Has anyone seen this model before and know its maker?
I don't really have an answer for you but I did see two other sets with the same marks as yours. The one shown here was the clearest, and looks to me like a "V". So, maybe the "V" was a mark used by Virsidan at some point. And the numbers were different on all three, my guess is they are dates: month and year. Virsidan was only in business from around 1988 to 1995, so the dates would work out. One of the owners was John Mortensen, who has a website that shows his designs for a variety of companies over the years. You could try contacting him and ask if he knows about these chairs and this red mark. I emailed him a couple of years ago with a question and he responded within a day and was very helpful.
