Hello everybody!
I have recently become interested in furniture design and designers. A neighbor threw out this chair and I thought it looked worthy of a secobd chance.
Looking online I think it is a gothic armchair. I could only see the tag and signature, but I cannot find it by the licence nymber online. By the font from the tag, I think it is from the '50s-'60s.
What intrigues me the most is that, even with a tag and a licence number, I cannot find out who manufactured it.
Thank you for taking the time to read and respond and for being on this forum!

You're right in that it's gothic in style, though it's greatly simplified from genuine gothic furniture or even gothic revival furniture (which i think was more like 1920s-ish...maybe?)
A lot of furniture made in in the mid-century era is like this--old style stuff with some updating to make it look more modern yet still pretty traditional. It doesn't fall into the category of "mid-century modern", though. Mid-century modern style consists of design that was completely new and fresh at the time, very simple and streamlined. Some of it was obviously based on older styles but only the most basic shapes, usually. No ornamentation, very little detail, etc.
I don't think the 60s gothic revival style is hot right now. If you like your chair, great! But I don't think it's worth much beyond the value of something to sit on. It was not likely to have had a designer of note, either. Most furniture like this was designed by committee in the design department of the manufacturer. But again, if it appeals to you, that's fine, nothing wrong with that.
