Is this a genuine Saarinen Tulip Coffee Table  

Knoll wasn't exactly great about label'/stamping it's stuff pre mid 90s

Hi there.
Your tulip table certainly appears to be a Knoll product, based on the single photo provided. Will a magnet stick to the base? Can the table be weighed? Is there any rust on the base? Can you get photo's of the underside of both the base and the place where the marble top marries the base? Also, a photo of the Knoll label, and a holiday picture of your family taken circa 1968 would help considerably. Nice table.

Seller says he got it from an estate and included a picture of the old Knoll label with the 22 as the zip which would date it back, but we know people have rolls of those labels.
He said there weren't any markings anywhere but that the base connected to the marble table top with a wooden section that had dowel like things for insertion/stability. Has said nothing of rust or magnetism.
If I do indeed take the long trek up, what should I be looking for with weight and those other ID-points?

The base should be constructed of aluminum, so a magnet won't stick, and there would be no rust. I can't seem to come up with how much it should weigh, sorry. I weigh 151 lbs.

Thanks again, Mark... Any markings on the base or underside or is it pretty bare with the early versions? I know the chairs and stools often have everything from Alcoa to BR 50/51, etc.

That sound correct. So are you planning to post a holiday picture of your family taken in 1968ish? or 1979?

Once we get that, perhaps we will. But it will just be a young family living in a dated 80s home with a few relics of every decade since this was hopefully produced...

I am not sure if this table is original. The marble appears to be fake. I need to see underneath the top. There must be a wooden mounting plate, painted on one side with a furniture nut on the other, wound on a threaded stud in the center. The mounting plate must have a bevel, same as marble. On vintage tables Carrara marble was more popular than Arabescato, so if everything is as I described, it's possibly a genuine Knoll
