Hi all,

I've bought a cabinet under the impression it was Borge Mogensen but the stamp doesn't look like others of his.

Is anybody familiar with it? (photo attached).

Many thanks in advance

@mark84

Hi there,

The stamp you posted could possibly be the manufacturer of the back board on the cabinet

Could you post a picture of the actual cabinet?

Regards,

Lexi.

@mark84

Have done a bit of searching ( I don't think I have ever looked so closely at the details of his cabinets !!) and I have come to the conclusion that the cabinet itself may indeed be a Borge Mogensen design but I think the base/legs are from a different piece of furniture.

Could you post more pics of the top,sides,interior and a profile view of the doors when open as it is hard to tell from the image you posted if the doors are flush or raised. All of these details will give a clearer idea as to whether this is a Borge Mogensen piece.

Regards,

Lexi.

Thanks for taking the time to post those photos. All the cabinet details match the online images for Borge Mogensen.

I have found no cabinets by him, with those legs.

However I did come across a dining table where the legs had the same "sculpted" design to the top. Frustratingly no labels or marks shown for said table; just described as Danish .

Can't help you any further but might  stumble upon something by chance at some stage in the future.

Lovely cabinet one way or the other.

Lexi.

With regard to posting more than one photo at a time, all you need to do is submit your post with one photo and go back in immediately and select EDIT, choose another file/photo and submit and so on....

Soborg produced this cabinet from the early fifties to the late sixties/early seventies. The cabinet itself looks like the real thing but just as Lexi I am not sure about the legs. Our old friend Leif has several Soborg catalogues on his homepage, but none of them features this base. That said, the last catalogue he has is from 1966. (He also has one from 1976, but Soborg had completely changed their programme by then). Maybe the base design was changed after 1966. Looking at this somewhat edged profile I can well imagine that this is 1968ish. But that's just a wild guess.

These were offered without legs to be stacked as a wall system and with plinths.  Neither option  is very desirable in the current market.  And those legs are afrormosia.  I think you are looking at a marriage.
