Hi
I was staying at friend’s place in France and his parents had some awesome dining chairs. They said they came from a flea market in Paris. They said there were plenty of them which made me think they could be cafe or school chairs. But I haven’t been able to find anything similar online. Can anyone help?
Photo attached; thanks!
They are similar to these "Barrique Pinot" chairs by German designer Magnus Mewes. He has a whole collection made from recycled barrique (oak wine barrels) . I don't know how the lockdowns have affected restaurants in France , but many here in the US are closing and selling off their furniture and equipment.
The frame looks like an old fashion collective use chair (for administrations, hospitals, etc.). These chairs were usually upholstered in vinyl.
Look at the welding between the seat and the back. That is not quality furniture.
I suspect (but just my humble opinion) that someone has replaced the ugly vinyl seat and back rest by some nicer looking wood to make something more salable.
