Hello,

I'm trying to determine if this lamp is a first edition. I wasn't able to find any information regarding specifics other than the grey/green finish that is original to the SAS Hotel. It has a porcelain socket and bakelite plug. Thank you for any help.

Hi. If I am not wrong, the plug is a US one so I am not too sure one can draw too many conclusions based on that. The screw in the middle seems to indicate that it is a replacement one, not original to the lamp.

Is there any sticker inside the reflector?

There is some remnants of glue from a sticker on the porcelain socket.

Also the switch does look odd. It is difficult to tell from your picture but it seems that it is a metal one. The switch that is usually seen is a plastic pushbutton.

I am not sure if the first edition lamps had the plastic pushbutton switch but they had it in 1967 (the picture below is from the 1967 Louis Poulsen catalog).

Does someone know if these table lamps were actually used in the Royal SAS hotel? I have seen the floor lamp and the wall lamp versions on pictures but never the table one. I always thought that these were the rooms' bedside lamps but it appears that the bedside lamps were wall lamps (and not "visor" ones).

On the contrary, the table lamps can be clearly seen in St Catherine's rooms...
