Last year I rescued most of a teak living room from a barn. Starting from near total ignorance of Scandanavian/Danish design, with the aid of this forum I have discovered that I have two (HCO era) Hundevad case pieces, a Frank Bros./Moreddi chair and coffee table, and a Yngve Ekstrom "Mingo" chair and ottoman in teak. I can't stop until I identify the only pieces that continue to be a mystery to me.

These two chairs look like Kofod Larsen's "Elizabeth" design, but the stance/scale is very different. Also, the chair arms don't continue as far around the seat back as Larsen's do. Most puzzling to me is the makers' mark: it looks like "PH" to me, but I'm not sure. None of the designers/firms with those initials I have read about made anything like this that I know of. Are these knockoffs of the Elizabeth chair or something else entirely? Any hints would help fulfill my personal mission to understand my new living room.

From the same barn find: this is what a professionally restored Yngve Ekstrom Mingo chair and ottoman look like in Navy Knoll Hopsack. I was going to use Hallingdal, but my wife steered me away from it because of the rough hand.

Having said that, I have no idea what that mark is doing on that chair. It does look like a Elizabeth chair knockoff, but I have never come across a Poul Hundevad chair design that looks like that.

Maybe post a few more photos of various chair details?

I would like to see more photos of the PH chair. That said I think I have documentation on it. Just not with me right this second.

Aha. Got it. This page is from a 1958 P.Broste catalog. I believe P.Broste was a retailer, at least for Poul Hundevad.

Nice memory, leif.

That was precisely the page I had in mind. Never seen evidence of one of them outside of the catalog before. It is always nice to bump into a design you've never seen in photos before.

The detective work on this is just stunning! I don't know how to show my appreciation, other than posting some more pictures. Please let me know if there are any other specific angles you all would like to see. The original owner told me that his recollection is that the cushions the chairs originally had were a dark grey wool to contrast with the formerly white shells.
