Hi everybody. This is my first post and I want say that this forum is fantastic.
I wish to have your opinion about this Eames Lounge Chair that I just brought in UK from Italy.
My parents told me that my grandfather bought it in the '50/'60. It has the original 100% down/feathers cushions. During the transport unfortunately the chair was damaged (I wanted to cry when I saw it).
-There was a long rectangular sticker on the bottom but it's lost.
-Under the armrest are three screw holes, whilst the armrest itself are only bolted onto the chair with two screws
-The quality of the leather is amazing. Only the ottoman cushion is damaged.
-I think the chair has been repaired at one point. The shell that now is completely cracked looks different compared to the others.
Reading older thread I found many information that make me think that this chair could be produced by ICF in Italy but I want to ask to the experts of this forum their opinion and I have a few questions:
What can you guys tell me about this chair? Who made it? Since I know very little about the veneer sorts, so secondly, can anyone tell me what sort of veneer it has? Can you tell more specifically what is the year of production?
I want to get this fantastic chair repaired for my new house in Uk but first I wish to know more about it.
Thank you very much in advance !

First of all, my condolences to your chair. It's suffered some devastating damage.
If your chair is reparable at all, your best bet on planet Earth is probably Graham Mancha in the UK. He's by far the most knowledgeable and skilled Eames expert/repairman. While I no have experience with ICF or Vitra Eames Lounge Chairs, I've worked with a handful of Herman Miller ones, and I have a couple of observations.
First, your chair was made of rosewood which definitely is the more rare version than the walnut/cherry/santos palisander they have in production nowadays. Second, there're 4 spacers on the top and lower back panels on your chair whereas Herman Miller and Vitra only have 3. If I saw that on another chair, I'd probably think it's a knockoff but yours seems legitimate based the other features that I see. Third, your chair appears to be made before 1970 based on the round clips on the wood panels. At least that is the case in the Herman Miller chairs.
Try Graham and see if he can regule and touch up to match the veneer. Please keep us posted.
