hi, I have been getting very confused recently trying to identify this lovely table and chairs. Most of the online pics (except two who give the chairs as Skovby) describe chairs identical to this as Dyrlund. However, reading earlier forum posts on this site it is mentioned that Dyrlund is very reliable with the labelling so if there is no label it might not be? However (again) there may be a sticky area on the bottom of some of the chairs that could have been a label? I have seen stick on Dyrlund labels in some other design of Dyrlund chair pics.

The table is stunning with the hidden detailing on the top of the legs and two perfectly matched extension leaves (shown with one in, when at its smallest it is a rounded off square). I can't see any markings on the table (other than '30' corresponding with the leaves?) and it has a metal extending mechanism.

Any advice would be much appreciated please.

Can you find a 100% identical table and chairs that are marked? Then you know the maker and the question is why they are unmarked. If they are stickers, then it is pretty easy to explain. If they should have medallions, then perhaps they aren't 100% identical, or....?

Metal slides usually tend to indicate later production. I am not sure when they started appearing, the 1970s, 1980s?. I don't know if Dyrlund ever used metal table slides. If you can't find a single metal table slide on a Dyrlund like yours, then that probably means something.

that's interesting information thank you - the mystery continues! My challenge is that not many tables I can find show their undersides. I do love this one though - it has a beautiful colour and is so flexible with size.

I have a Skovby table and sideboard that I purchased, new circa 1989/1990, which has the same rounded off square shape as yours. Labels long gone!! I have attached some images of a round version which shows the underside ( exactly like mine) and label.

Your table appears to have longer support sections at the top of the pedestal which could be just a variation in design/manufacturing.

Do your extension leaves have metal or wooden pegs on the connecting edges? Are there metal clip fasteners undernearh to hold everything in place? These little details can be important.

Regards,

Lexi.
