First inquiry here, any help appreciated! I have no experience in this area.
We have had a teak desk for many years and although I've seen what appears to have been an identical desk claimed to be a Vodder desk with a significant asking price on an auction web site (>$5,000.00 USD), I suspect our desk is only based on a Vodder design and likely has value only as a teak desk in reasonably good condition.
There are only two ID type marks on the desk, a stamp saying "No. 34" on the back of the large drawer, and "7 TEAK" made with a marker on the bottom desk support under the large drawer. No other indications of the producer or location of the producer.
Do these markings and the design provide any ID as to the producer of the desk and whether it can be claimed to be a Vodder desk?
I don‘t think the question is whether this desk is „real“ or not. If you are able to find that same desk with a makers mark that reads H.P.Hansen, Randers, then you have proof enough that this is a H.P.Hansen desk. The question is if this really a design by Arne Vodder. I doubt it. You shouldn‘t bother about value, anyway. The 5k you found somewhere is not what people will pay for a teak desk from a lesser known Danish company.
