Those legs made me think of Ico Parisi, so I did a quick image search, and found something very similar shape-wise:

Alas, I don't know where to turn after this.
need close up shots of table top, edge banding, legs, the bent wood circular center, and splicing that is zig-zagging between slices of the top, on bottom. it is a cool table.at a distance. for some reason I looks Norwegian to me, although i certainly admit the likeness to that Parisi table.
It is endlessly entertaining to me, Zephyr, that you write as though you are in my head, only you are far more eloquent than I am. It is good to have you back.
I can suggest why it looks Norwegian: the contrasting woods on the table top look like they might be Afrormosia banding, and Teak veneer. (Which also could be from the U.K.). The styling is a bit more florid and wrought than Danish pieces. For instance the radial veneer would be very uncommon for a Danish piece. Again this could go towards Italian, Norwegian, Swedish, or British.
Dearest leif and Zephyr, (and cd silva),
Your collective knowledge of woodworking, honesty.. (and so much more) have provided me with endless educational opportunity, and I thank you. How lucky for all to be able to read and re-read your postings. My Father often said..."I most admire people who are the absolute "best" at what they attempt..but also the people who are the absolute "worst" at what they attempt". All others to the back of the line.
What a cool passion to have. Wood.
My best,
Aunt Mark
ps. yes I like my pants today.
Sorry about that Leif, I promise that I am actually my own self and not a digital aberration of your own consciousness, echoing through the halls of the internet, ...... and while I certainly appreciate the kind words from someone I respect, I should probably focus on being more concise, and a little bit less wordy.
You identified what I was not able to put my finger on, the two tone nature of the wood, which gave me the feeling of Norway. I think that, what appears to be bent wood in the center, also gave me that feel.
Now we just need Avouri to post some closer pictures to see if the darker wood is Afromosia, or something else.
Hi.
Back to my pants.
Vintage Lilly patchwork madras. Fully lined in a lightweight cotton (a luxury). Lunch with the gals, then off to look at something.
Hi,
Aunt Pants.
ps probably to be deleted...I am off topic...as usual. Oh. I. Need. Therapy.
Now back to the Avuori's table. Hi.
Mark: as always you are too kind to me, but thank you. Perhaps one day we can grace a dive bar and trade anecdotes while we discover the refractive index of light through the bottom of a bottles of vodka, gin, whiskey, and mescal. I shall remember to point out to you that you the "absolute worst" should be appreciated in equal measure, as you will be the image of sartorial perfection, while I will be the absolute worst, styleless and wearing my lunch.
Zephyr: It really is flabbergasting that you picked as your username my real name, which, it is fair to say is beyond rare. I guess it is good that you are my eloquence interpreter. It could be much worse. And eloquence does not mean I think you talk too much. In fact, quite to the contrary.
Anyway, if we ever get so more photos of this table, maybe we can get somewhere with this table....
