I recently purchased a set of 4 oak dining chairs. While they are danish in style I am not sure they are of danish design and manufacture. Any help in identification would be most welcome.
I was told they were purchased in 1962 from Heal's in London. They have no maker/designer or Danish control marks.
Stylistically they have may similarities to danish Poul Volther model J61 chairs but Volther's design doesnt include stretchers. While the stretchers are oval they are a rounder oval shape than the danish chairs I have come across. Similarly the corner blocks on the frame under the seat are heavier than I have seen previously. The furniture rests on the feet are Bakelite and were made by Armstrong Cork Limited of London.I have seen them also used on Ernest Race chairs from the 1950's. So a few pointers to being British but I am just not sure.
Would greatly appreciate help in identifying the designer and maker of these chairs

Just back from a visit to the Heal's archive at the V&A. The chairs are listed in the Heals 1960 Cont/ex catalogue as being swedish and designed by K O Westberg......also located the matchingteak and oak extending dining table I have...also retailed by Heals and produced in sweden......worth the effort sometimes to do the hard slog in terms of research
