Hello, I just got this beautiful midcentury coffee table and I can’t quite make out the mark, have done some searching but so far no luck!
The logo says PBS. It appears to have been a maker that sold a lot to the UK and other commonwealth countries. There is another design marked with this logo which resembles a Johannes Andersen design. His name seems to get mentioned a lot with PBS. I don’t have any documentation that links the two together.
I checked all available material but couldn't find a matching factory. It would help to know if it's all a name of if one letter maybe represents the town. Like in Peter Brodersen, Sonderborg. Which I just made up.
"People buy a chair, and they don't really care who designed it." (Arne Jacobsen)
I might have an idea of what the PBS logo might means. I have an old member book from the Furniture Dealers Central Association in Denmark where there is an overview of furniture manufacturers throughout the country by region and city. In connection with the town of Odder, where several other well-known furniture manufacturers are mentioned, the name Poul Bendix Sørensen appears, which matches the initials PBS. In 1962, Poul Bendix Sørensen. Møbelfabrik built new production facilities in Odder https:arkiv.dk | Poul Bendix Sørensen. Møbelfabrik. Højgårdsvej 13. Photo from 1968: arkiv.dk | Poul Bendix Sørensen. Møbelfabrik. Højgårdsvej 13, Odder. Have searched for other documentation, but unfortunately I haven't yet been able to find anything more that can confirm the connection.
