I've just acquired an LC4 chaise that is so close to Cassina quality (I also have a Cassina) but is stamped twice with "36" under the headrest bar. This chair has the center seam in every crossbar, just like the Cassina chaises, and a headrest pillow that is very much like the early Cassina chaises — no piping around the edges. Even the springs look like the Pirelli rubber springs of the older Cassina models, though covered in somewhat flexible black plastic, not rubber. But the double "36" markings are a mystery. There is a 36 stamped into the chromed frame on either side of the headrest bar. No other markings, anywhere. (The hair-on-hide mat is all blond, which is unusual, too, with black piping.) Any ideas as to the maker? Maybe it really is the 36th chaise made by Cassina.
