Dear designer enthousiasts,
A few days ago I found this chair in a 2nd hand shop in the Netherlands. They did an auction and unfortunately my bid was to low (I can only stretch my studentbudget so far).
I really fell in love with this chair, but since I am very unacquainted with any form of design, I find it hard to track down from which era or designer this chair would be. And how would you call this type of design?
I hope you can help me out, so I can continue my search in trying to obtain myself this beautiful chair.
Thanks in advance,
Sander.
The style, at least in the US, would be called mid century or MCM. That shape would likely be referred to as "geometric" and was popular with Italian furniture from the 1950's by designers like Gigi Radice and makers like Lenzi (pictured). Unfortunately those are quite expensive.
There were some Danish, British, and American makers who did chairs with similar shapes - Adrian Pearsall was one. And I've noticed there are contemporary chairs in this style, which obviously sell for a lot less than vintage Italian models.
