This is a massive china cabinet, almost 8' high and about 10' wide. It is so big and heavy that it has to be disassembled to be moved. Made of laminate-clad very thick MDF, the total cabinet weighs about 1000 lbs. Each of the beautiful frosted-glass sliding doors weighs more than 50 lbs if I recall correctly.

Well-made, it definitely has a Scandinavian feel to it but I could find no markings of any kind on any of the component pieces when I put it together. All of the hardware and machined/extruded aluminum tracks for the sliding doors is heavy-duty and top-notch. This is NOT an IKEA-type mass consumption furniture piece although it may, upon first glance, share some of that contemporary aesthetic.

I bought this piece in an auction but it had no accompanying information, other than it came from a home that was professionally decorated because there were other expensive pieces of furniture in the dining room and master bedroom.

Any help in identifying the designer, manufacturer, model name, and date of manufacture would be greatly appreciated. I believe the previous (original) owner had this piece for only 5-10 years at most, but as with other beautifully-designed modern furniture, the look can be timeless and ageless.

Thanks.

I don't know who made it but I believe it's styled after Japanese shoji screens, not so much some Scandinavian aesthetic. Maybe that will help in your search efforts.
