Hello All
I found these chairs in a garden so they are not in great condition, the are shiny underneath but the top is matt and stained. The base has some bits of chrome in places and even though the base looks rusty they are still very strong. They are made of some really heavy material, possibly some kind of resin? and the seat part is thick. No marks as far as I can see, I am wondering if they are a 1960's replica of the original chair?
Thanks in advance!

The Eiffel tower base on a real Eames shell chairs looks very different than that. It has just four points of contact with the shell, not a square, flat frame that attaches to the shell as your chairs do.
The shape of the shell looks pretty close, though. The high gloss that is completely worn away in well defined areas looks weird.
Hello Spanky and tktoo
Thanks for this, as I thought there was something not quite right about them but they seem quite old so I think someone very industriously created a replica. As they aren't precious i might try to get some of the top shine back with car polish (nothing to lose 😉 ).
Clapboards are on my lovely garden shed, made up from odd windows and standard fencing boards and the bricks were once part of our kitchen wall, a labour of love!
Will endeavour to find something more interesting for the forum next time, I'm always staggered by the knowledge in this group.
Thanks both!
