@mark737 great ID!
"People buy a chair, and they don't really care who designed it." (Arne Jacobsen)
Thanks. The reference I saw first made it sound like a "Södra Galvano" was the name of the designer. Looking at other sites, some list Söda Galvano as the designer and maker, and another makes it sound like they just made the footstool. Did they just make the bases for chair and footstool?
@mark737. According to a Norwegian FB forum SöDa Galvano made bases, usually swivel and/or tilting ,for quite a few Norwegian chair manufacturers.
Knowledge shared is Knowledge gained
Well, the fact that "Söda Galvano" is named as designer, is, of course, complete nonsense, like so many attributions on the net. Unfortunately the vintage market is dominated by amateurs, who are pretty clueless. For example, I always laugh when I read: designed by Aksel Kjersgaard for Odder! 🤕 Just one example of countless others.
I picked up one of these Lied Møbler chairs yesterday. It was listed as a SöDa Galvano chair, since that was the only tag on it. It looked like rosewood in the photos but turned out to be beech (I think) with a rosewood stain, which was disappointing but the price was right. As the OP said, it is very comfortable. I need to buy new seat straps; it looks like they originally came with seven Fagas straps. I plan to buy new ones from Evans unless anyone has a better suggestion.
