I have attempted searching myself but have come up empty handed. I have emailed Bitossi and am waiting for a response. In the meantime. Is the vase Bitossi? It has a B in the numbering but I can't find that shape or design anywhere. My wife thinks it is a sake bottle No other marking or impressions
I don't think Bitossi. Alth...
I don't think Bitossi. Although not an expert I've seen a few pieces which spawned several web searches and I would be surprised to to find it to be Bitossi. It could be Italian but I kinda agree with your SO in that it looks a lot like a sake bottle.
.
Hmmm, is the color better or worse in this photo of the same vase? (link below)
ITALIAN CERAMIC VASE WITH FISH
Marked B34/608A, possibly Bitossi Dimensions: H 8.5" x Diameter 3.75" Condition: good, no chips, cracks, or repairs observed Provenance: From the descendants of a late 19th C. Siam logging operation
And what the heck does "From the descendants of a late 19th C. Siam logging operation" mean and why would it give any credence to it being Bitossi?

Same vase as liveauctioneers I am just a bad photographer
The numbering system is similar to Bitossi, but missing the Italy mark. Add the possible Bitossi from the auctioneer is why I ended up on that road.
If the vase, bottle, or whatever it is a Thai creation wouldn't the characters be Thai also?
I am not arguing for it to be Bitossi, but trying to rule out one possible manufacturer. I do think it is Italian, if it is Bitossi so be it.
P.S. Mine had dirt in it too. Coincidence?
