Hi everyone, I came across the Bieffeplast Plato 1 and Plato 2 lamps recently and it is unclear who designed these. They tend to be attributed to Sottsass, but I am not certain about it, as the tags on them only mention the model name and Bieffeplast - no designer. All I know is that they seem to be quite rare! If anyone knows anything on them that would be nice!
Great question the Bieffeplast Plato 1 and Plato 2 lamps are definitely intriguing pieces. While they're often attributed to Ettore Sottsass, there's surprisingly little definitive documentation to confirm this. Bieffeplast worked with several notable designers during the postmodern period, so it's possible these were part of a lesser-known collaboration or even an in-house design.
You're right they’re quite rare, and the lack of designer attribution on the labels only adds to the mystery. If anyone has original catalogues or documentation from Bieffeplast, that might help clarify things. Would love to learn more myself!
