I have a pair of bedroom lamps that were my mothers. They are porcelain like with gold bands, and pink roses on them. I have had them for 50 years. I think they must have their original shades.
The only mark on them is a sticker that says: Underwriters Laboratories, Inc , tested portable lamp, Issue # 45,439. Is there a way to tell their age and their maker? I would love to know more about these.

Hi.
A picture of your Mother would help considerably. They're _______, and I ________ them. Now let's figure this out together.
Respectfully,
Aunt Mark
ps do I see a cuckoo clock in the background? Was it mom's?

Aunt Mark,
Well my mom has been dead for 30 years and I have not picture. These are my lamps now and was hoping that by the UL # I could find out something about them, who made them or how old they could be. They are in perfect condition.
And yes, that is a cuckoo clock, and it was hers too. She brought it back from Germany many, many years ago.

Hi.
Since a picture of your mother would be highly inappropriate to show at this point in our relationship, I must share with you that cuckoo clocks scare me. Do they bite? What do they eat?
Best,
Aunt M.
ps why do you refer to them as " bedroom lamps"?

They have always been in our bedroom on our night stands. They match the flowers on the wallpaper there and I think that they would not look well in our living rooms. They are just to fancy.
